BMO Financial Group pledges $125,000 to establish new scholarship at StFX

BMO Financial Group is helping attract top academic students to St. Francis Xavier University through the establishment of a new scholarship.  With a pledge of $125,000 to StFX's Expanding Futures capital campaign, a new BMO Financial Group Scholarship has been created.

"With this gift, we are extremely pleased to help ensure that students at one of the finest universities in the country continue to have access to a broad range of financial support programs,”  said Trevor Green, Vice President, BMO Bank of Montreal.  "BMO Financial Group has a long history of promoting and supporting educational institutions across the country and has sponsored programs at StFX University for more than 20 years.”

“This substantial gift from BMO Financial Group increases our ability to support exceptional students who are seeking the quality education that StFX offers,” says university president Dr. Sean Riley.  "We are very grateful to BMO Financial Group for its ongoing support of StFX University.  This new scholarship is a lasting investment in academic excellence."

The renewable BMO Financial Group Scholarship, valued at a minimum of $5,000 annually, is open to graduates of a Canadian secondary school who rank in the top five per cent of their class.

The Expanding Futures campaign is part of a far-reaching campus renewal initiative, valued at $75 million, which is building upon StFX’s tradition of excellence in teaching and research with new academic facilities, enhanced learning opportunities and increased student aid.
