BMO Financial Group 2004 Corporate Social Responsibility Report and Public Accountability Statement Available
BMO Financial Group announced today that its 2004 Corporate Social Responsibility Report is available at www.bmo.com/community. Entitled "What's Right", the report includes the bank's 2004 Public Accountability Statement and provides information regarding the organization's ongoing commitment to responsible and ethical corporate behaviour and to active and involved support of its communities.
BMO's commitment is built on the enduring relationships between employees and communities, and covers a range of corporate donations and sponsorships including education, health, arts and culture, community development, sports and athletics, and the environment. "This report illustrates the personal impact of thousands of BMO employees making community needs and humane causes their own," said Tony Comper, President and Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group. "Such people and their good works demonstrate to the world the kind of people we are at BMO Financial Group and how, above all else, we strive to do What's Right."
In 2004, BMO contributed more than $29 million in corporate donations, sponsorships and events, supporting communities, charities and not-for-profit organizations in Canada. With more than 30,000 full-time and part-time employees in Canada, BMO is one of Canada's largest employers. In 2004, the company's overall tax-contribution was $1.4 billion and the organization spent $1.3 billion buying goods and services from suppliers across Canada.
