BMO Financial Group CT Scanner Room Included in New Wing at Cornwall Community Hospital to Meet Growing Demand for Diagnostic Services Cornwall Receives $200,000 gift from BMO Financial Group to help serve more than 11,000 patients a year

More Cornwall residents will have access to the latest diagnostic services thanks to BMO Financial Group's $200,000 gift to the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation's "Our Hospital, Our Future" Campaign.

Funds raised for the campaign will be used to upgrade and renovate the existing Critical Care Unit, Ambulatory Care Centre and the Obstetrics Department, and build a new wing that will house state-of-the-art Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Departments, as well as a modern surgical suite.

The new BMO Financial Group CT Scanner Room will be an important component of the hospital's new Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Departments. These areas are currently the most crowded and have the greatest demand. More than 11,000 patients a year are expected to use the diagnostic imaging services.

"BMO is pleased to contribute to this important campaign," said The Honourable Edward Lumley, Vice-Chairman, BMO Nesbitt Burns and Honourary Chair of the hospital campaign. "The Cornwall Community Hospital is a valuable part of the community. Not only will the redevelopment of the hospital provide the community with a modern, cost-effective health care facility, it will have a tremendous impact on the local economy."

Jeanette Despatie, CEO of the Cornwall Community Hospital, is grateful for the support BMO is showing the hospital and the campaign. "The redevelopment of the McConnell site is a considerable undertaking - one that will be accomplished only through community support. BMO has made its support very clear and we thank them for the significant gift."

Tom Kaneb, Co-Chair of Our Hospital, Our Future with wife Gail, offers his congratulations to BMO, "for showing generous leadership in the Our Hospital, Our Future Campaign. This donation is a really strong signal of bank commitment to our community and the interest that the financial sector has in supporting healthcare."

The Our Hospital, Our Future Campaign currently stands at the halfway mark of $5 million. When the gifts from the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G are included, the total exceeds $16 million to date, which is 70% of the $22.8 million required from the community for the hospital redevelopment.
