Fred Mifflin Appointed Vice Chair of BMO Nesbitt Burns  

BMO Nesbitt Burns is pleased to announce the appointment of Fred Mifflin to Vice Chair of the firm's investment banking group effective immediately.

Reporting to BMO Nesbitt Burns President Yvan Bourdeau, Mr. Mifflin will assume management responsibility for the firm's investment and corporate banking (I&CB) division in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. He will also continue to serve as Deputy Head of the I&CB group.

"Fred has extensive financing experience and has been responsible for numerous advisory, restructuring and privatization assignments. He will be an integral part of our team as we continue to reinforce our leading positions in Canada and accelerate growth in the United States."

Prior to his current role, Mr. Mifflin was Chief Operating Officer of the investment and corporate banking division. Previous to that he had overall responsibility for BMO Nesbitt Burns' successful global mining business. From 1992 to 1997, he oversaw the firm's government practice where he was involved in the privatization of some of Canada's largest entities. Between 1989 and 1992 he was a member of BMO Nesbitt Burns' capital markets group. Before joining BMO, Mr. Mifflin spent six years with McLeod Young Weir Limited and Citicorp Investment Bank.

A native of Newfoundland, Mr. Mifflin holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours from Queen's University, an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School. He has also been an Executive in Residence at INSEAD in France and Singapore.
