YWCA Calgary and BMO Financial Group Launch New Luncheon Speaker Series to Promote Advancement of Women
Join YWCA of Calgary, BMO Financial Group and award-winning writer and acclaimed author, Jacquie McNish, on May 2nd for the first Power of Women – Power to Change luncheon.
This speaker series will showcase dynamic and influential woman leaders from across the country. The series was developed to promote and encourage networking among women; increase awareness of important issues facing women in the community; provide learning opportunities for women both professionally and personally; and raise funds for the YWCA's programs for women in Calgary.
This is a sold-out event, attracting more than 200 people, including a number of influential women in the Calgary area. YWCA Calgary has also invited a current resident in its transitional crisis housing to attend the luncheon.
Jacquie McNish and Sinclair Stewart's book “Wrong Way: The Fall of Conrad Black” won the 2005 National Business Book Award. McNish will relate the stories of three whistleblowers – from Hollinger, Enron and Worldcom – and will reflect on why it was female executives who sounded the alarm in each case.
