BMO Financial Group Corporate Responsibility Report and 2006 Public Accountability Statement Available

BMO Financial Group's Corporate Responsibility Report is now available at www.bmo.com/community. Entitled “Your BMO”, the report includes BMO's 2006 Public Accountability Statement and provides information specific to the organization's commitment to responsible and ethical corporate behaviour and to its wide-ranging support of the communities it serves.

In their joint message, which accompanied the Report, Tony Comper, President and Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group and Bill Downe, Chief Operating Officer, said “Corporate responsibility has gone from being a dubious proposition to a defining feature of the best businesses on the planet. We are proud to be able to report that having helped to set the corporate responsibility evolution in motion, BMO has stayed out there on its leading edge, as evidenced by the information in this report.”

BMO's ongoing commitment is sustained by the relationships between its employees and its communities, and is evident through corporate donations and sponsorships that support a range of programmes, organizations and causes related to education, health, arts and culture, community development, sports and recreation, and the environment.

In 2006, BMO contributed $32.1 million in corporate donations, sponsorships and events, supporting communities and thousands of charities and not-for-profit organizations across Canada. With more than 31,000 full-time and part-time employees in Canada, BMO is one of Canada's largest employers. In 2006, the company's overall tax-contribution was $948 million and the organization spent $1.5 billion buying goods and services from suppliers across Canada.
