Women's Record Broken at 2007 BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Marathon Claudia Camargo of Argentina finishes with a time of 2:35:46.

Claudia Camargo of Argentina, now living in the United States, broke the women's record at the 2007 BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Marathon today with a time of 2:35:46. She placed an amazing third overall in the BMO Vancouver Marathon, another record and a rarity in marathons. With her first place women's finish plus a sub time course record under 2:39, Claudia wins $5500US from Mosaik MasterCard.

The men's full marathon was won by Thomas Omwenga, from Kenya, with a time of 2:25:23. He beat out two-time BMO Vancouver Marathon male champion, from 2005 and 2006, Kassahun Kabiso, who placed second this year.

This marks the 36th annual running of the BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Marathon. There were 12,636 triumphant runners and walkers in the full and half marathons today from 35 countries.

In 1972, with just 72 runners, the original course was comprised of just five loops around Stanley Park. Today, the BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Marathon took participants along a scenic 42 km route that included False Creek, the Seawall, Stanley Park, and across the Burrard Street Bridge, through Kitsilano and Point Grey to the finish line at BC Place Stadium.

Cash prizes totalling more than $25,000 were awarded to top finishers from Mosaik MasterCard.
