BMO Banks on Growth in Moose Jaw with Plans for $1.4 Million Downtown Branch

BMO Bank of Montreal announced today that it will open a new full-service branch in Moose Jaw early next year so that it can better serve its customers from a larger, more accessible and convenient downtown location. Construction is expected to begin in the first week of June.

“Our objective is to provide every one of our customers with a better banking experience each and every time they walk through our doors,” said Tafaline Sakundiak, BMO Bank of Montreal Personal Banking Area Manager. “We'll be adding staff and moving existing branch staff and operations from our current branch to this expanded location so customers can be sure they will be met by many of the same friendly, knowledgeable banking professionals who are always ready to have a meaningful financial discussion that begins and ends with their needs.”

The new 6500 sq. ft. branch, which will be located at 39 Manitoba Street East, will have an expanded staff of 24 banking and investment professionals. Customers in Moose Jaw will benefit from:

  • A highly experienced team of in-house experts – including personal banking managers, a financial planner, a mortgage specialist and a BMO Nesbitt Burns investment advisor;
  • A Commercial team specializing in agriculture and business lending
  • Two Instabank Extra automated banking machines (ABM), including a drive-through ABM;
  • Ample free parking for BMO customers and
  • Full wheelchair accessibility.

“Our expectations for continued growth and success in Moose Jaw and the surrounding area have allowed us to commit this $1.4 million investment in the community. We will be in a great high traffic location in the downtown core and we have the staff, products and services to be the only financial institution our clients will ever need,” said Richard Burton, BMO Bank of Montreal Commercial Banking Area Manager.

The new BMO Bank of Montreal retail branch is scheduled to open in early 2008. The Bank plans to put the existing building, at 48 High Street West, up for sale closer to the branch relocation date. “Maintaining a BMO presence in the downtown area will enable us to provide continued convenient and accessible banking to our customers,” said Ms. Sakundiak.

BMO first opened for business in Moose Jaw in 1909. BMO Bank of Montreal now operates 29 branches in Saskatchewan and employs more than 375 people in the province.
