BMO Bank of Montreal Opens $1.3 Million Bank Branch in North-West OakvilleNew branch one of first BMO branches to be fuelled by clean energy from Bullfrog Power and built to LEED environmental standards

BMO Bank of Montreal today opened a new 6,000 square foot personal and investment banking branch, at 2536 Third Line in Oakville, ON.

“We're excited about the prospects of growing along with Oakville,” said Lidia Kwiatkowska, Area Banking Manager, Oakville and Burlington, BMO Bank of Montreal. “We're in a in a high traffic, commercial and residential hub that situates us ideally to serve the growing North West Oakville community.

BMO also announced that the Third Line branch is one of the first BMO branches to receive its electricity from Bullfrog Power, which provides homes and businesses in Ontario and Alberta with electricity generated from clean, renewable sources like wind power and low-impact hydro. BMO has purchased 5,000 Megawatt Hours per year of clean, emission-free electricity from Bullfrog Power.

“BMO is the premier financial institution on the bullfrogpowered Green Index, and this shows our leadership in environmental sustainability,” said Jim Johnston, Director, Environmental Sustainability, BMO Financial Group.

The Third Line branch has been built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. LEED certification covers the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. Having this branch certified to LEED standards will enable BMO to measure the impact on a building's performance in areas such as water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor air quality.

“It is part of BMO's Environmental Policy to encourage a green workplace through programs that promote energy efficiency, recycling and waste minimization,” added Johnston.

The new branch has a staff of 13 banking and investment professionals.

Customers can expect:

  • A highly experienced team of in-house experts – including personal banking managers, a financial planner, and a BMO Nesbitt Burns investment advisor;
  • Three Instabank automated banking machines (ABM), including a drive-through ABM;
  • Ample parking for BMO customers; and
  • Full wheelchair accessibility.

“We are committed to providing every one of our customers with a better banking experience,” said Alan McEwen, Branch Manager, BMO Bank of Montreal. “Our customers can be sure they will be met by a knowledgeable professional who will sit down and help them understand our products and services and help them make the right decisions with their money.“

BMO's Third Line branch will operate from:

  • 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays;
  • 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays; and
  • 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The branch will hold its grand opening ceremony on Saturday, November 3, 2007, the same day as BMO's 190th anniversary.

BMO serves customers through five branches in Oakville.
