TORONTO, June 12, 2008 – There are 340,000 new reasons to buy Dad a gift this Father's Day. According to Stats Canada Data, that has been the average number of births in Canada over each of the last five years. Retailers are hoping the burden of additional child-rearing expenses won't dampen what has traditionally been one of the four biggest days for retail spending, behind Christmas, Mother's Day and Valentines Day.
