BMO Bank of Montreal Appoints New Personal Banking Area Manager for Western Newfoundland

CORNER BROOK, April 20, 2010 - BMO Bank of Montreal today announced the appointment of Deanne Chaulk as Personal Banking Area Manager for Western Newfoundland.

Ms. Chaulk will assume leadership of a team of 110 professionals who serve customers through BMO's network of 12 branches in Western Newfoundland and Labrador.

Ms. Chaulk has more than 10 years experience with BMO Bank of Montreal, including the past six years as manager of BMO's Wabush branch. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University.

"Throughout her career, Deanne has demonstrated a commitment to outstanding customer service while leading her teams to superior performance," said Steve Murphy, Senior Vice-President, Atlantic Provinces Division, BMO Bank of Montreal. "She will ensure that our employees in Western Newfoundland and Labrador offer our customers a superior banking experience and personalized financial solutions during each branch visit or conversation."

"BMO is focused on helping its personal banking customers make sense of financial matters by providing clarity surrounding financial choices and decisions, and helping them save money through initiatives such as BMO SmartSteps," said Ms. Chaulk. "Following a 20-minute conversation with their banker, BMO SmartSteps can help customers set aside savings each month, reduce their banking fees, cut the number of years they make mortgage payments and begin paying less income taxes."

Recently, BMO Bank of Montreal also introduced a five-year fixed-rate mortgage that offers the lowest five-year fixed rate on the market - currently at 4.20 per cent and a maximum amortization period of 25 years."

"Customers were telling us that they wanted a mortgage product that was straightforward, easy to understand and would help them achieve their financial goals of being mortgage-free sooner. They also wanted to pay less interest charges over the long run and to enjoy the peace of mind provided by a fixed-rate loan," explained Ms. Chaulk.

BMO Bank of Montreal opened its first branch in Newfoundland in 1895 and now operates 24 full-service branches in the province.
