The award ceremony took place earlier this evening at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Lee Dunn, Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer for BMO Financial Group, accepted the award on behalf of her team and BMO. Ms. Dunn noted that BMO is an organization that continuously strives to be a leader in protecting the customers' and the bank's information. This year BMO implemented a number of security solutions that have strengthened their security and safeguards.
Notable amongst the bank's accomplishments are:
- BMO has been certified under ISO 27001 for the fourth consecutive year. ISO 27001 is a key industry information security standards framework.
- BMO has demonstrated leadership in the rollout of certificates that verify customers are on legitimate BMO websites by turning the address bar green. BMO also offers Trusteer software as a free download to BMO customers, to improve their browser security.
- BMO has also implemented encryption solutions to keep information safe such as; encryption for removable media, which encrypts information on USB keys and encrypted email for confidential information being sent to customers.
“We continually evaluate our technology choices and decisions to ensure we are leveraging our security controls to maximum capability,” said Ms. Dunn. “At BMO, we understand that security is integral to safeguarding the information of our businesses and of their customers.”
