The 44's FC Boreal U10 Girls Vie for BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion

Canadians invited to cast their vote at BMOsoccer.com through August 15

PREVOST, QUEBEC and SAINT-COLOMBAN, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 10, 2011) - The 44's FC Boreal U10 Girls' team are in the running to be named BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win the grand prize, which includes $125,000 to upgrade their community soccer pitch.

The champion team will also win a road trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game and a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Canadians can log on to BMOsoccer.com to cast their vote. The team with the most number of votes will be the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion.

"If the 44s are victorious in this contest, the prize money will be used to renovate one of FC Boreal's soccer fields, which will also be renamed to honour their teammate who lost her life last year. No matter who wins the contest though, the 44s will always be the true 'Team of the Week' any week of the year. This group of young girls is a living example of perseverance through tragedy and difficulty; finishing as winners!" said Trevor Browne, coach of the 44s.

The children promoted their team for votes by distributing pamphlets and posters in local stores and in other cities they have visited. They contacted the local radio station, CIME, to air a segment promoting the team at the local news level, and have also distributed advertising materials to their opponents at home games. The parents were also quite involved as they promoted the team at their places of work and to their co-workers.

The girls dream of a synthetic field, as the 44s are the only club in their association that does not have access to such a synthetic playing surface.

"It's very fun to be part of the BMO Team of the Week contest because the team spirit between the girls is showcased and it shows that we continue to think of Catherine no. 44. I really enjoy the experience because it makes me want to play more soccer. I am proud to be in the 44s," said Gabrielle Cloutier, player on the team.
