The Calgary Blizzard Celtics '01 Vie to be Chosen BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion

Canadians Invited to Cast Their Vote at BMOsoccer.com Through August 15

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 10, 2011) - The Calgary Blizzard Celtics team are in the running to be named BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win the grand prize, which includes $125,000 to upgrade their community soccer pitch.

The champion team will also win a road trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game and a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice. The Celtics' charity is the Special Olympics, with whom they have a special connection.

The team with the most number of votes will be named the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion.

"Across the city, Calgarians are seeing 9 and 10 year old girls dressed in Blue, the colour of the track suits awarded to the BMO Team of the Week. The girls are the Blizzard Celtic. While they may look cute, the girls are tough as nails when they play soccer, and especially now," said parent and supporter David Tupper.

"The Blizzard Celtic are engaged in a fierce youth soccer competition for BMO Team of the Week 2011. Extraordinarily, after four of the 15 days of voting, the girls are in 3rd place from the teams that made it to the finals from across Canada. This is unusual for a team from the city of Calgary's size. A strong showing thus far reflects the complete dedication from the girls, their toughness, their charm and their determination to succeed for Calgary, and for each other," added Tupper.

Having done so well thus far based upon their own drive, determination and effort, the Celtic girls are now calling on the City of Calgary to unite behind them and to vote, each day, between now and August 15th for the Blizzard Celtic, and for Calgary.

The girls have done everything that they can do by themselves. They now need the support of Calgary which, fortunately, has a history of supporting worthwhile causes and worthwhile groups.

These girls also give great interviews. For example, click this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7jaWXsgf3A&feature=youtube_gdata_player
