TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 16, 2012) - This weekend marks the 42nd annual Ontario Summer Games. From August 16-19, the City of Toronto will play host to almost 2,500 of Ontario's finest amateur athletes competing in 28 sports. The Opening Ceremony will kick off the games tonight at 7 p.m. ET at University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium.
As the Bank of Soccer in Canada, BMO is proud to sponsor the soccer portion of the Games.
"BMO is honoured to be a part of the 2012 Ontario Summer Games, one of the best platforms for Canadian amateur athletes," said Sandy Bourne, Vice-President, Corporate Sponsorships, BMO Financial Group. "And what better way to support than through the game of soccer, especially after the recent international success of the Canadian Women's Soccer team which had every Canadian rallying behind them. To all athletes competing, we wish you the best of luck!"
On Sunday, August 19, the gold medal soccer matches will be played, and BMO has invited Toronto FC player Adrian Cann to be a part of the medal ceremony and sign autographs.

About BMO and Soccer
BMO supports soccer across Canada from youth players in local neighbourhoods and communities all the way up to the professional level. Our deep commitment to 'The Beautiful Game' is evident from the beginning of the curve with our grassroots sponsorship of more than 900 youth teams nationally. The relationship continues with support of Canada's men's and women's national teams, our professional teams (Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Montreal Impact) and our soccer venue title sponsorship (BMO Field).
BMO Team of The Week is BMO's national grassroots youth soccer program and is now in its second year. Fifteen youth soccer teams (ages 7-12) have been recognized across the country for their community involvement, team pride, spirit and passion for the game. One team will be named the BMO Team of the Week 2012 Champion as voted by Canadians, winning a $125,000 prize towards a field refurbishment, a trip to see a Canadian National Team, Toronto FC, Montreal Impact or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home match, plus a $5,000 donation to their charity of choice. Canadians can vote once daily from now until August 27 at www.BMOsoccer.com.
