TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2012) - BMO InvestorLine has launched in Canada adviceDirect™, an innovative and personalized service that provides investing advice to online investors.

The first service of its kind in Canada, adviceDirect™ puts investors in control by providing specific investment recommendations to help them manage their portfolios.

"adviceDirect™ is tailored for Canadians who want to invest through an online brokerage and receive advice when making investment decisions," said Connie Stefankiewicz, Senior Vice President, BMO Financial Group.

adviceDirect™ clients will have access to the following features:

  • Portfolio review across 4 areas: asset allocation, risk, diversification and investment rating. Based on this review, personalized buy/sell recommendations are then provided from a powerful quantitative investment engine.
  • Portfolio monitoring and notifications advising clients when their portfolio requires attention.
  • Access to a dedicated team of Investment Specialists who can provide advice and guidance throughout the portfolio construction and management process.

According to a BMO InvestorLine study, more than two-thirds of Canadians (68 per cent) believe that advice is important when making online investment decisions.

"adviceDirect™ is a game-changer, the most significant innovation in Canadian direct investing since the introduction of online investing," added Ms. Stefankiewicz. "We have always prided ourselves on our ability to respond to the needs of Canadian online investors, which is why we've introduced this groundbreaking new service. We saw the need to provide certain online investors with investing advice to help them optimize their portfolios and meet their long-term goals. For online investors who want to keep control, but don't want to be all on their own, adviceDirect™ gives the increased confidence of having a co-pilot. This is all about doing it yourself with confidence.

For investors who are fully confident in making their investment decisions independently, we'll continue to enhance our existing top-ranked self-directed service," said Ms. Stefankiewicz.
