TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2012) - Lovisa McCallum, a managing director in BMO Capital Markets' Financial Products Group, today received the Women in Capital Markets (WCM) Leadership Award for her dedication to supporting the development of women in the capital markets industry.
The WCM Award for Leadership, now in its sixth year, recognizes senior executives, male and female, who have combined professional excellence with a demonstrated commitment to advancing and supporting women in capital markets.
Mrs. McCallum, whose career at BMO spans 22 years, is a principal trader for structured rate and total return products and has played an instrumental role in building out BMO's structured rate franchise. For the past three years she has presented at the BMO Capital Markets "Career Toolkit for Success" event to provide insight on achieving work-life balance.
Mrs. McCallum has been volunteering for more than a decade. She started doing community work with the Junior League of Toronto. She moved on to become an extremely active volunteer on local and national boards for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and is a recipient of the Foundation's Breath of Life Award. For the past three years, she has been the top fundraiser in Canada for the Great Strides Walk, an annual charity event that raises money and awareness for cystic fibrosis. She is also treasurer and a founding board member of Reason D'être, a small dance company that promotes age diversity and accessibility.
"Lovisa has incredible energy and drive, which is evident in how she balances her work, community involvement and being a mother to two young boys. She has become a role model for everyone on our trading floor," said Eric Tripp, President, BMO Capital Markets. "She inspires those around her and sets the bar incredibly high for all of us. This award couldn't be more deserved."
"Now, more than ever, strong leaders are modeled from those who exhibit leadership not just professionally but on many levels - in the community as well as at work," said Martha Fell, Chief Executive Officer, Women in Capital Markets. "Lovisa stands out as someone who has done just that and has been a mentor to many over her career."
