TORONTO, ONTARIO and CHICAGO, ILLINOIS--(Marketwired - March 11, 2014) - The 2013 BMO Employee Giving Campaign set new records for both donations and participation, with BMO and more than 39,000 of its employees raising more than $22,060,000 for local United Ways and other charities across North America. Further, BMO employees volunteered at hundreds of charities in communities across Canada and the U.S.

"These gifts represent a powerful and unmistakable act of generosity," said Bill Downe, Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group. "Fairness, equity and evening the odds have long inspired us - it is a privilege to be part of an organization where people show this level of commitment."

In recognition of the Campaign's success this year, United Way Toronto, United Way Calgary, United Way of Central Alberta and United Way of the Fraser Valley each presented BMO with Spirit Awards in the financial services category. The awards recognize individuals, teams, campaigns and organizations that conduct best-in-class campaigns and offer outstanding support to United Way.

For more than 195 years, BMO Financial Group has followed a principle of corporate and social responsibility and of reinvesting in the communities it serves. In 2013, BMO contributed more than $56 million in community donations to charitable, not-for-profit and community-based institutions and organizations that help build and sustain resilient, vital and healthy communities.
