BMO Financial Group Named a Top Employer for Ninth Consecutive Year

BMO recognized for: workplace diversity, employee learning and new-parent support programs

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 8, 2014) - BMO Financial Group has been named one of Greater Toronto's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the publishers of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This designation recognizes employers in Greater Toronto that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. This is the ninth consecutive year that BMO has received the award.

Judges recognized BMO for its long history of advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, for its focus on employee learning and development, and for its commitment to supporting new parents with maternity and paternal leave top-up payments.

"Our employees are our most valuable resource," said Richard Rudderham, Chief Human Resources Officer, BMO Financial Group. "That is why we have worked hard to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where talented people with different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences have the chance to grow in ways that matter to them. This recognition as a Top Employer reflects BMO's long-standing commitment to investing in our employees to help them achieve success in our company and in their communities."

BMO has championed workplace diversity and inclusion for more than 20 years. A dedicated council, comprised of senior executives, leads an enterprise-wide strategy for developing and implementing related programs and policies. The company also encourages and supports employee-led Resource Groups that build a sense of belonging, community and advocacy across the organization.

As a strong supporter of ongoing employee education, BMO provides subsidies for tuition and professional accreditation. It also manages the Institute for Learning - BMO's corporate university - which offers over 300 courses to thousands of employees every year.

BMO is also a major recruiter of young Canadians and offers valuable on-the-job experience through co-op programs, summer student roles and paid internships. Additionally, BMO helps employees confidently plan for retirement with a defined benefit pension plan and health benefits that extend to retirees with no age limit.
