BMO Financial Group Appoints Hon. Brian Tobin as Vice-Chair

Formerly Vice-Chair of BMO Capital Markets

TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2018 /CNW/ - BMO Financial Group today announced the appointment of the Honourable Brian Tobin, P.C., O.C. to the expanded role of Vice-Chair, BMO Financial Group effective November 1, 2018.

Formerly Vice-Chair of BMO Capital Markets, Mr. Tobin will now report to Darryl White, Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group. In this role, he will provide senior relationship management for corporate, government, and institutional clients.

"Brian has brought tremendous and diversified experience to BMO," said Mr. White. "We have benefited significantly from his trusted advice and strategic insight during his tenure at BMO Capital Markets, and we are delighted that he will be bringing his expertise to this expanded role."

Mr. Tobin has served as Vice-Chair, BMO Capital Markets since April 2013. Previously, he served as Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from 1996 to 2000, winning two consecutive majority governments. His federal political career included positions as Minister of Industry (2000 to 2002) and Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (1993 to 1996), and service as a Member of Parliament from 1980 to 1996 and again from 2000 to 2002. Mr. Tobin was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in January 2013.

He serves as Chairman and Director of NFI Group Inc., Chairman and Director of Element Fleet Management Corp. and is Lead Director and Vice-Chairman of Aecon Group Inc. Mr. Tobin previously served as Executive Chairman, President & CEO of Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Ltd. Mr. Tobin is co-chair of the Nature Conservancy of Canada's capital campaign and chair of Theatre Newfoundland Labrador's "Set the Stage" campaign.

Mr. Tobin is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a graduate of the Directors Education Program. He has been awarded honorary degrees by both St. Francis Xavier University and Brock University.
