BMO Financial Group to Assist Badger Flood Victims  

 

BMO Financial Group today announced that it will contribute $25,000 to help the Canadian Red Cross in its relief efforts for the flood victims of the town of Badger in Central Newfoundland.

BMO Bank of Montreal branches in Newfoundland and throughout Atlantic Canada will also be accepting donations from the public to help the hundreds of Badger residents who have been driven from their homes. As well, BMO Bank of Montreal will introduce a “Financial Relief Program” for victims of the flooding. This program will be implemented in conjunction with government assistance programs.

The Bank will forgo the principal and interest payments for a period of three months on mortgages of residents affected by this natural disaster.

“We want to help our customers cope with this disaster, and we hope our initiatives will help alleviate the difficulties being faced by the flood victims and the community,” said Jack Hillyard, Vice-President for Newfoundland and Labrador at BMO Bank of Montreal.

In conjunction with relief organizations, BMO Financial Group and BMO Fountain of Hope Employees Foundation, will assess the needs of Badger residents as they evolve.
