BMO Bank of Montreal is today celebrating its 100th anniversary in the southeastern Ontario community of Bobcaygeon.
The bank first opened a branch in Bobcaygeon in 1904, preceding the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway to the community. Although BMO has moved locations since then, it still maintains the strong tradition of customer service and support for the local community that it did when it first opened in the community.
"As Canada's First Bank, BMO Bank of Montreal has a long and proud history of partnership with Canada's communities," said Ian Hamilton, Vice President, BMO Bank of Montreal. "Our presence in Bobcaygeon has evolved over the years to meet the growing needs of the local populace, and we're proud to have played our part in the growth of this vibrant community."
BMO Bank of Montreal is marking the anniversary by donating $1,000 to Community Care, a volunteer-based non-profit organization, which supports seniors and special-needs persons throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The ceremony will take place at the branch at 12:00 noon EST. Guests will include Her Worship, Mayor Barbara Kelly, Bobcaygeon; Chamber of Commerce President Gordon Killen; and Candace Jermyn, First Vice-President of the Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society.
