Harris Nesbitt, the U.S. investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE: BMO), announced today it has hired two investment bankers to focus on serving clients in the Consumer & Leisure industries, continuing the firm’s broad expansion effort.
David Haas joins as Managing Director and Head of Harris Nesbitt’s Consumer & Leisure Group and Anthony Moretti joins the group as Director. Based in New York, they will be responsible for forging new client relationships and initiating and executing investment banking, financial advisory and capital raising transactions in this sector.
“Both David and Anthony are highly experienced bankers with proven track records,” said Dominic Petito, Deputy Head of U.S. Client Coverage, Harris Nesbitt. “Their combined expertise and deep sector knowledge will be instrumental in building upon our strong consumer products platform.”
Mr. Petito added that Harris Nesbitt will continue to grow its Consumer & Leisure Group. Over the last year, Harris Nesbitt has embarked on a broad expansion strategy, hiring key individuals to other areas of its investment banking business. Recent senior appointments announced by the firm include Erik van Nispen (Financial Services), Jim Love (Healthcare), Jeff Hamilton (Energy & Power), Geoff Belsher (M&A), Robert Barnett and Steven Steinberg (Commercial & Industrial) and Carlos Conde (Equity Capital Markets).
Mr. Haas and Mr. Moretti join Harris Nesbitt from RBC Capital Markets in New York. As the former Head of Consumer Products and Retailing Mergers and Acquisitions at RBC, Mr. Haas was responsible for all North American financial advisory activity in the consumer products and retailing sectors. During his career, he has also served as a Managing Director in the Merchant Banking Group of Prudential Securities Inc. and as a Director, Investment Banking for Salomon Smith Barney and at PaineWebber Inc. Mr. Haas has a Bachelor of Science from Widener University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Mr. Moretti was most recently a Director, Mergers & Acquisitions Group, at RBC responsible for providing the firm’s advisory capabilities to a broad range of consumer products and services companies. During his career, Mr. Moretti served as Vice President in the Investment Banking Group of Tucker Anthony Sutro, Inc. and as a Credit Analyst in the Technology Banking Group of FleetBoston Financial Corporation. Mr. Moretti has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from Brown University.
