BMO Financial Group will release financial results for the first quarter of 2006 today in advance of the scheduled release date of March 2, 2006. The Board of Directors decided to release the results immediately after learning that partial results for the quarter had been distributed in error this afternoon to one group of employees within the Bank. While the error was discovered within minutes and a recall of the information was instituted immediately, the Board decided in an abundance of caution to release the full results. “We pride ourselves on our very high level of governance on all matters of disclosure,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Comper. “While to the best of our knowledge the information was released only to one group of BMO employees, we deeply regret the incident and apologize for the inconvenience.” The analysts' call to discuss first-quarter results will proceed as scheduled on March 2, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. EST.
