Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity BMO and Toronto Artist to Unveil National Black History Month Poster Featuring Canada's Governor General Six local African-Canadian artists to showcase their work

To celebrate Black History Month in Canada, BMO Financial Group invites you to attend the unveiling of Black History Month's 2007 Legacy poster designed by local artist, Robert Small. The poster will be available to school boards and community organizations and will be on display at BMO Bank of Montreal branches across the country.

The 2007-edition poster features three prominent African-Canadian women, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Micha�lle Jean, Governor General of Canada, Toronto District School Board Trustee, Stephnie Payne and Ontario's first Chief Student Achievement Officer and founding CEO of The Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat, Dr. Avis Glaze. According to Mr. Small, the poster was designed to inspire a younger generation of African-Canadians, create awareness and pay tribute to the achievements and contributions of African-Canadian women.

In addition to the unveiling, BMO will profile six local African-Canadian artists who will showcase 15 pieces of work in an exclusive art show at the First Canadian Place Gallery.

WHAT: For the past 12 years, Robert Small's poster was titled the ‘The Official Black History Month Poster.' 2007 marks the release of the first annual Legacy Poster. The name Legacy was given to the poster to demonstrate that African-Canadian history occurs over a course of time. Each generation inherits a legacy of success, trials and/or unfulfilled dreams that they must live up to. BMO Financial Group is proud to celebrate the achievements of African-Canadian women.
