BMO Bank of Montreal continues to expand its banking presence in Southern Ontario with the opening of a new $1.35 million branch at 1001 Maple Avenue at Thompson Street, in Milton. BMO has been serving customers in Milton from its Ontario St. South branch since 1976.

The 6,000 square foot branch is centrally located to service the rapidly expanding commercial and residential developments in North East Milton. The bank has hired a team of 14 financial services professionals from Milton and the surrounding area, who will provide customers with a variety of commercial and personal banking services, wealth management and financial planning services.

“We've hired many of our new staff from in and around Milton; this is great for our local economy and it's great for our customers who will see friendly and familiar faces when they visit us in the branch,” said Vidal Ramlakhan, Branch Manager, BMO Bank of Montreal. “Many of our employees are actively involved in organizations and activities throughout Milton. BMO is very supportive of employee volunteerism; this is another way in which we stay involved in and connected to our community.”

“Milton is one of the fastest growing towns in Southern Ontario with a large number of young families and new businesses arriving each year. We look forward to welcoming customers, both personal and commercial, to our new branch and to the opportunity to introduce BMO's commercial banking services to the many retailers in the area,” said Catharina Balch, Area Manager, Peel/Halton North.

BMO's Milton customers will benefit from:

  • A highly experienced personal banking team – including a Financial Planner, Nesbitt Investment Advisor and a Mortgage Specialist;
  • Two Instabank Extra automated banking machines (ABM), including a drive-thru ABM that offer:
- Access to accounts and banking information 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
- A flexible key pad security shield and special viewing screen on every ABM to increase privacy and prevent customer PIN numbers from being observed by others;
- A ‘fast cash' option – that dispenses a preset $40 from your chequing account with only a single prompt, and
- The ability to add the total amount from up to five deposits in a single transaction and provide a consolidated receipt
  • Full commercial banking services provided by an on-site commercial account manager;
  • Extensive parking for BMO customers;
  • Full wheelchair accessibility;

The new branch will open for business on Monday, February 19, 2007 and operate: 9:30 am to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays; and 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays. These hours complement BMO's Ontario St. South branch which serves the community from 10:00-4:00 Monday to Wednesday, 10:00-8:00 Thursday and Friday and 10:00-2:00 on Saturday.

To celebrate the branch opening, BMO will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on Saturday, March 31, 2007.
