BMO Bank of Montreal Continues to Invest in Barrie, OntarioOpens new $1.1 million bank branch

BMO Bank of Montreal continues to build its presence in the city of Barrie, with the opening of a new $1.1 million retail banking branch in the Georgian Mall in Barrie, Ontario, to better serve its customers. The branch is located just a few hundred metres from its former location outside the mall.

The larger 5,800 sq. ft. branch now boasts a staff of 17 personal banking and investment professionals including a financial planner and a BMO Nesbitt Burns Investment Advisor.

“Our goal is to provide customers with a positive banking experience from the moment they walk in the door,” said Lucille Hutchinson, Branch Manager, BMO Bank of Montreal. “With more banking professionals on hand and larger office space to accommodate comfortable and private meetings with our customers, we can assure BMO clients that they will be met by a knowledgeable professional who is ready to have a meaningful conversation that starts and ends with their needs.”

“Barrie is a thriving community that provides BMO with an excellent location for growth. That's one of the reasons BMO opened a 325,000 sq. ft. data centre in the Mapleview West Business Park in July 2006.” said Susan Markus, Area Banking Manager, Barrie South Simcoe region, BMO Bank of Montreal.

She added, “BMO has a strong presence in Barrie, operating four bank branches and one BMO Nesbitt Burns office, serving the financial needs of both retail and business banking clientele in the city. Many of our employees are actively involved in organizations and activities throughout Barrie. BMO is very supportive of employee volunteerism; this is another way in which we stay involved in and connected to our community.”

Customers of BMO's Georgian Mall branch will have access to:

  • Two Instabank Extra automated banking machines, including a barrier-free machine for wheelchair access
    - Access to accounts and banking information 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
    - A flexible key pad security shield and special viewing screen on every ABM to increase privacy and prevent customer PIN numbers from being observed by others;
    - A ‘fast cash' option that dispenses a preset $40 with only a single prompt, and
    - The ability to add the total amount from up to five deposits in a single transaction and provide a consolidated receipt
  • Extensive parking for customers;
  • Full wheelchair accessibility;
  • Two night depository services – one within the mall for retail customers and one located outside.

The Georgian mall branch is open for business starting Monday, March 12, 2007 and will operate: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 9:30 am to 8:00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays; and 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays.

BMO will hold an official grand opening celebration on Saturday, May 5, 2007.

In 2006, BMO Financial Group contributed $32.1 million in corporate donations, sponsorships and events to support communities, charities and not-for-profit organizations across Canada. Locally, BMO provides major donations to organizations such as the Royal Victoria Hospital, United Way Simcoe, the Armed Forces and the Alzheimer Society.
