BMO Branches Across Canada Now Offer a Low-Cost Way for Customers to Wire Money to Portugal
Bank expands its Global Money Transfer account services in response to growth of Portuguese-Canadian communities across the Country
BMO Bank of Montreal announced today that it's Global Money Transfer account services are now available at all BMO branches across Canada, giving customers a more convenient and faster way to transfer money to family, friends and loved ones in Portugal.
Heather Grand, Managing Director, GTA Division, Specialty Markets, BMO Bank of Montreal said there are large Portuguese-Canadian communities in a number of regions across Canada, in particular in Vancouver; Winnipeg, Montreal and in the Ontario communities of, London, Kitchener, Cambridge, Oakville, Leamington and Bradford. “BMO has been offering its Global Money Transfer services in the Greater Toronto Area where there has always been a large Portuguese-Canadian community but we wanted to make the service available to customers in these other regions as well,” she said.
Ms. Grand said BMO has a preferential arrangement with Millennium bcp of Lisbon, Portugal, which accepts money transfers in Canadian dollars as well as in Euros. Other Portuguese banks accept transfers only in Euros. Under BMO's arrangement with Millennium, the service is available through a BMO Everyday Banking Plan at an affordable $7.50. BMO customers can send money to Portugal from any BMO Bank of Montreal branch, from a BMO ABM, or via telephone banking or online at bmo.com.
“BMO's Global Money Transfer service represents one of the many ways that BMO is helping to meet the growing demands of the Portuguese-Canadian community, “said Ms. Grand. “We're pleased to provide another benefit for our customers in multicultural markets who are looking for specialized services.”
In November, 2007, BMO Financial Group completed the integration of bcpbank Canada, following its acquisition in 2006. The conversion provides former bcpbank customers with access to BMO products and services at all branch locations. In addition, the eight converted branches expand BMO's branch network and provide BMO customers with greater access to banking services across the Greater Toronto Area.
