The 2008 BMO Dream Home is Opening its DoorsThe $10 tickets are being sold by some 150 organizations
MONTREAL, May 26, 2008 – BMO Bank of Montreal and its partners today took part in the inauguration of the BMO Dream Home located in the Villas-sur-Rive development in Sainte-Dorothe, Laval.
“Yet again we are excited to lead this philanthropic project which raised nearly $1 million for many non-profit organizations in Quebec last year,” said Franois Hudon, Senior Vice-President, Quebec Division, BMO Bank of Montreal.
Valued at $950,000, the BMO Bank of Montreal Dream Home was built by Constructions De Royan, designed by Les Crabitations N. Perron and Villas-sur-Rive, the real estate developer.
The three-storey BMO Bank of Montreal Dream Home has 15 rooms, including three bedrooms, a studio and a home office. The 5,300-square-foot house is built on a landscaped 8,700-square-foot lot with an in-ground pool and has a fully finished two-car garage. Supplied with natural gas and Novoclimat-certifed, the home has two natural gas fireplaces, three bathrooms and a powder room. The basement includes a home theatre, a billiards room with a convertible pool table, a wine cellar and a multipurpose room. The lucky winner of the home will also enjoy the benefits of a five-year holiday from municipal taxes and free heating, electricity, telephone, Internet service and satellite television.
“This house has a classic style and European elegance with a touch of modernism,” said designer Johanne Morency. “Besides giving it a soul, I've tried to make it as ‘green' as possible, among other things by using natural materials such as cork, marmoleum and recycled leather flooring, quartz countertops with non-toxic glues, zero-VOC paints, Energy Star-certified appliances and water saver toilets. One of the basement's rugs is even made from 1,399 recycled water bottles!”
“An exciting project attracts exciting people,” said actor and popular lecturer Marcel Lebœuf, and spokesperson for the BMO Dream Home. “That this superb house has been built is testimony to the teamwork and generosity of the partners involved. You have to take action if your dreams are to come true, and the only action that's required to have a shot at becoming the Dream Home's happy owner is to buy a ticket.”
Tickets are on sale for $10 at all BMO Bank of Montreal branches in Quebec as well as at 150 participating non-profit organizations (to see a list, visit www.maisonderevebmo.com). Ticket sales will run through the end of September 2008, with periodic draws featuring prizes from AirMiles, IGA and BMO Bank of Montreal to be held on June 12, July 17 and August 29.
“My BMO colleagues and I are proud to actively support this philanthropic initiative,” said Mr. Hudon. “And I'm pleased to inform you that BMO employees have already passed the halfway mark toward reaching their goal of selling 80,000 tickets for the draw through the BMO Employee Charitable Foundation. The funds raised will be used to support research on childhood diseases and provide assistance to sick and underprivileged children.”
Organizations that take part in the sale of tickets for the BMO Dream Home draw retain 50 percent of the total value of the tickets they sell, making it a major source of fundraising for them.
“La Maison des parents d'enfants handicaps de Laurentides–Lanaudire was able to be self-supporting last year thanks to the Dream Home Foundation,” said Marie-ve Boucher, acting director of the Maison, a hospice for parents of children with disabilities. “This fundraising activity enabled us to add something new to all our established services. We are very excited about the 2008 campaign.”
Located at 248 Des Alismas in Sainte-Dorothe, the BMO Dream Home can be visited from May 31 to September 29, 2008, on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the BMO Dream Home.
The final draw will be held at the BMO Dream Home on Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 5 p.m., in the presence of the four finalists selected in a draw on October 2.
The main partners of the BMO Dream Home are BMO Bank of Montreal, Group LSR, the City of Laval, Gaz Mtro, Gaz Mtro Plus, Brault & Martineau and Les Draperies Pierre Cholette. Decorator and designer Johanne Morency is once more responsible for the interior decoration of this luxury home.
