BMO, the official bank of the Canadian defence community, installs a new Instabank machine on Gagetown base
OROMOCTO, NB, April 20, 2009 – BMO Bank of Montreal today introduced a new Instabank machine (ABM) to meet the everyday financial needs of the defence community and customers at large.
Located in the CANEX complex, Building A-42 at the main entrance to base, this ABM offers different features, including:
- Access to money, accounts and banking transactions 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
- A flexible key pad security shield preventing customer PIN numbers from being observed by others;
- An audio function enhances the experience for customers with vision loss, as they can listen to instructions in both English and French with a headset;
- A ‘fast cash' option – that dispenses a preset $40 from your chequing account with only a single prompt, and
- The ability to deposit up to five cheques in a single transaction.
BMO Bank of Montreal and Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services have worked together to develop an enhanced banking program to meet the needs of the Canadian defence community. CANEX patrons, families and the members of the Canadian defence community can take advantage of this program, which also includes the BMO Support Our Troops MasterCard. With this affinity card, cardholders can earn rewards on all purchases and at the same time support a variety of morale and welfare programs on bases, wings and units, such as the Military Families Fund.
“We are happy to service the Gagetown / Oromocto community with this new ABM on the base and look forward to welcoming customers to our closest BMO full-service branches, on Prospect Street, UNB Campus, King Street, or Main Street in Fredericton, “ said Pete Gauvin, Area Manager, Western New Brunswick, BMO Bank of Montreal. “We are committed to making money make sense for every one of our customers, by bringing clarity to the complexities of money. This commitment has never been more relevant than it is now given today's economic realities.”
“Plus if you're one of the millions of AIR MILES collectors in Canada, we have another reason for you to bank with BMO,” said Mr. Gauvin. “No other bank can help you collect faster and redeem more quickly because we are the only major financial institution that rewards debit and credit card purchases, including online purchases, with access to a comprehensive choice of more than 800 reward and travel options,” he added.
Customers and members of the community are also invited to join in a celebration in the CANEX building between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and meet with BMO Bank of Montreal local branch managers on May 8, 2009.
About BMO Bank of Montreal
Established in 1817 as Canada's first bank, BMO Bank of Montreal has supported national defence efforts for nearly two centuries. For instance, during the First World War, BMO established temporary branches to pay troops at various encampments throughout Canada; overseas all Canadians officers were paid through the bank's Waterloo Place office in London. During the Second World War, the Bank's president George Spinney headed the National War Finance Committee, which oversaw the sale of Victory Loan bonds, and in the mid-1950s Bank of Montreal opened branches at Canadian Air Force and Army bases in France and Germany.
