BMO – the Bank of Soccer and the Official Bank of Canada's Defence Community – Supports Canadian Forces National Soccer Championships

BORDEN, ON, September 17, 2009 BMO, the Bank of Soccer, has again expanded its support for “The Beautiful Game” as the Premier Sponsor of this week's Canadian Forces National Soccer Championships at Canadian Forces Base Borden.

The tournament features both men's and women's competitions between teams representing the five Canadian Forces regions across the country: Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies and Pacific. The championship games are taking place today.

For the tournament, BMO is providing jerseys, balls and other soccer-themed prizes to the winning teams, all-stars and most valuable players.

“BMO is proud to support this event, featuring dedicated members of our military from across Canada,” said Frank Berdan, District Vice-President, Northern Ontario, BMO Bank of Montreal. “We're delighted to strengthen our relationship with the Canadian Forces, and we want everyone in the defence community to know that we are with them.”

This sponsorship strengthens BMO's relationship with the Canadian Forces. As the Official Bank of the Canadian Defence Community, BMO provides an enhanced banking program to meet the needs of the Canadian defence community. This includes the BMO Support Our Troops MasterCard, where customers can earn rewards on all purchases and at the same time support a variety of morale and welfare programs, such as the Military Families Fund.

Our deep commitment to “The Beautiful Game” is evident from the beginning of the curve with our grassroots sponsorship of more than 450 youth teams nationally. The relationship continues with our title support of elite youth players at BMO National Championships through to our professional teams support (Toronto FC & Vancouver Whitecaps FC) combined with soccer venue title sponsorship (BMO Field).
