TORONTO, June 15, 2010 - BMO Capital Markets, the investment & corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE, TSX: BMO), now covers more mining stocks than any other financial institution in the world.

With nearly a century of service to the global resources sector, BMO's Equity Research Mining team currently maintains active coverage on 153 leading companies in the metals and mining and fertilizer industries on six continents.

"Combined with a well-capitalized financial sector, Canada clearly maintains its advantage as a global mining hub," said Mike Miller, Head of Equity Products, BMO Capital Markets. "Because of Canada's strong fiscal position, the very friendly mining environment is likely to continue in Canada."

TMX Group, owner and operator of Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange, is the leading international exchange group for mining financing. It is home to 55 per cent of the world's public mining companies, with more than 1,400 companies listed, making it a top global player in resource listings. In 2009, a record $22.2 billion in mining capital was raised on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange.

The BMO Capital Markets Mining Research team follows the majority of the world's production of most commodities, such as iron ore, gold, copper and silver. The group tracks more than 80 percent of the stock market capitalisations of miners on Western world exchanges (excludes China and parts of Asia).

"We execute equity research with one goal in mind: To help investors achieve superior returns while managing risk," said Tony Robson, Co-Head, Metals & Mining Research, BMO Capital Markets. "Today's global mining industry is a maze of complex economic, geographic, environmental and regulatory challenges. As investors look for new global opportunities, they need a financial services partner that has the knowledge to help them succeed."

BMO's mining exploration analysts focus on more than 20 small and micro-cap companies, tracked by both the BMO Small Cap Gold and Precious Metals Index and the Metals & Minerals Index. Collectively, BMO Capital Markets' mining research team conducted 125 mine site visits around the world last year to produce top quality analysis.

"Our extensive industry contacts and experience enable BMO Capital Markets to provide our clients with unparalleled advice. The cornerstone of this effort is our leading mining research team, with 10 dedicated analysts in Toronto, London and Denver," said David Haughton, Co-Head, Metals & Mining Research, BMO Capital Markets.
