Winners of BMO Soccer Spirit Awards AnnouncedSix youth soccer stars from across Canada receive award

TORONTO, October 19, 2010 – BMO Financial Group today announced the winners of the second annual BMO Soccer Spirit Awards. The winners were selected for displaying qualities of BMO Soccer Spirit, such as passion, dedication, leadership, sportsmanship and the desire to exceed – both on and off the field. Nominated by a coach, teammate, family or friend, the awards recognize soccer players from six regions across the country between 6-17 years of age. 

"We want to inspire soccer involvement at all levels in Canada, especially at the community level," said Sandy Bourne, Vice-President, Advertising and Sponsorship, BMO Financial Group.  "The BMO Soccer Spirit Awards serve to increase participation in youth soccer programs and showcase Canada's talented young players.  On behalf of BMO, I'm happy to offer our congratulations to these six exceptional players for their dedication and passion.”

The winners are:

Taylor Shannik, Age 16, Delta, BC

Jessica Bradford, Age 14, Saskatoon, SK

Jordon Henwood, Age 14, Peterborough, ON

Patrick Whelan, Age 12, Burlington, ON

Xavier B�gin, Age 9, Blainville, QC

Jack Nielsen, Age 12, Halifax, NS

Each winner was awarded a $500 BMO Intuition RESP, BMO Soccer Spirit trophy and an autographed Canadian National Team soccer jersey.
