BMO Capital Markets to Host 20th Annual Global Metals & Mining Conference
  • Industry leaders from six continents will attend one of the largest metals and mining investor conferences in the world
  • Mergers and acquisitions expected to remain a major theme for 2011

TORONTO, February 14, 2011 – A record number of people are registered to attend the 20th annual BMO Capital Markets Global Metals & Mining Conference, one of the largest events in the world for metals and mining investors. The event will be held from February 27 to March 2 in Hollywood, Florida.

“This is the 20th anniversary of BMO's Metals and Mining Conference,” said Tom Milroy, Chief Executive Officer, BMO Capital Markets. “Its success and longevity are a testament to the caliber of our global Metals and Mining team, who host distinctive events such as this to help our clients better understand the forces that shape the industry.

We first held this event in 1991 in Whistler, B.C. with just a handful of companies. Today, it has grown to become the pre-eminent industry event. This year, investors will have an opportunity to meet executives from over 275 leading mining companies from 31 countries around the world. This is a truly outstanding turnout,” added Milroy.

The three-day event will be hosted by BMO's Metals & Mining Equity Research team. With 10 dedicated metals and mining analysts in Toronto, London, and Denver, the BMO team collectively covers around 150 companies, making it the largest mining research effort in the world.

“Given current metal prices, mining companies are enjoying high margins with strong cash flows,” said Tony Robson, Co-Head Mining Research, BMO Capital Markets.

“Mergers and acquisitions are expected to be the continued theme for 2011, on the back of the strong profits,” added David Haughton, Co-Head Mining Research, BMO Capital Markets.
