Media Advisory-BMO Real Estate Panel: President of the Calgary Real Estate Board Joins BMO Experts

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 14, 2011) - Calgary's real estate market was a housing hot spot five years ago. However lofty valuations, a pullback in oil and the recession spurred a 17 per cent correction between mid-2007 and early 2009. Although the market has now recovered more than half of its losses, Calgary has yet to reclaim its pre-recession peaks.

Buyers and sellers are facing many questions including house prices, interest rates and renovations. Media are invited to hear from a panel of real estate, renovation, banking and economics experts and to participate in a question and answer session. Discussion points include:

  • Outlook on interest rates, housing starts and house prices in Alberta
  • Nearly half of Canadians are planning energy efficient upgrades in the next year
  • What are the benefits of increasing energy efficiency at home and what is an eco mortgage?
  • What are good renovation decisions that add to the value your home?
