BMO Financial Group announced today that the Glen Shields Sun Devils 2000 Girls Soccer Team has been selected this week's BMO Team of the Week. The team is now eligible to be the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win $125,000 to upgrade their local soccer field.

"While learning to play the game they love, the girls are also learning important life lessons. Soccer has taught the girls that teamwork is the fuel that makes all things possible. Four years ago our team rarely celebrated a win, but with discipline, effort and passion this changed. Training three times a week, year round, the Sun Devils 2010 achieved promotion to YRSL Premiere, the highest U11 league," said Sun Devils Coach Paul Dell'Aquila.

"The team shares the same commitment and solidarity off the field, supporting their community. The girls participated as a team in the VIM Walk to Cure Cancer raising the most funds of all team entrants," added Mr. Dell'Aquila.

The Sun Devils also like to learn soccer skills from more experienced female players and attend games together at club, provincial, and national levels.

"Congratulations to the Sun Devils on their BMO Team of the Week win. These young girls are caring, passionate and determined – a true recipe for success both on and off the field," said Curtis Scragg, District Vice-President, BMO Bank of Montreal.

The Glen Shields Sun Devils 2000 Girls are the eleventh of 15 youth soccer teams (age 7-12) across Canada that will be selected between April 1 and June 30 as weekly BMO Team of the Week winners based on team pride, spirit, community commitment and passion for the game. The winners will then vie for the title of BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion, to be selected by the Canadian public through online voting as of August 1.
