NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - July 21, 2011) - BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE:BMO)(TSX:BMO), continued its commitment to the Boston market with the addition of Gary Koenig, who joins the firm as Managing Director, Institutional Equities. Previously, Mr. Koenig worked at JP Morgan Chase. He will report to Alan Gardner, Managing Director and Head of Sales for the Boston office.

"Over the past two years, BMO Capital Markets has been significantly expanding its presence in the U.S. Since the end of 2009 we have tripled the size of our office in Boston from seven employees to 22," said Perry Hoffmeister, Head of U.S. investment and corporate banking, BMO Capital Markets. "Boston is a tremendously vibrant market for us and we are excited to bring our full suite of product capabilities – including M&A, equity capital markets and debt capital markets, as well as sales trading to companies in the area. In particular, we have a very strong commitment to the healthcare and technology sectors that we serve from Boston."

Over the past two years, BMO Capital Markets has hired more than 130 new Director-level and above employees in the U.S. and now has over 2,000 employees worldwide, with almost 1,000 of those in the U.S.

In the past two years, BMO Capital Markets has added the following key hires to its Boston office: Mike Neuberger, Managing Director & Head of Healthcare Investment and Corporate Banking and Richard Vieira, Managing Director & Head of Technology Investment & Corporate Banking, both of whom were formerly with Jefferies & Co. Paul Griffin joined as Managing Director in Technology Investment & Corporate Banking and was previously with Cowen and Company. More recently, Alan Gardner joined as Managing Director, Equity Products, joining BMO from JP Morgan Chase. In February of this year Alan brought on Arjan Kraan to the Boston office as Managing Director for Sales Trading U.S. Equities. He was previously with Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers.
