TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 27, 2011) - Media are invited to attend a national voting kick-off for the BMO Team of the Week contest at the Play Soccer event at Yonge and Dundas Square in Toronto on Wednesday, July 27. Play Soccer is an interactive community program designed to celebrate soccer from the grassroots level up.
The event will feature a number of interactive games. In the BMO soccer zone, Diana Matheson of the Canadian Women's National Team and Toronto FC players Oscar Cordon and Keith Makubuya will join BMO youth soccer players in an exciting mini-match at 11:30 a.m.
Paul Mariner, Director of Player Development for Toronto FC and former England International, will be on site for any young players looking to gets tips from the pros on how to improve their game.
The zone will also feature banners for the fifteen weekly winners of BMO Team of the Week. Voting for this year's BMO Team of the Week Champion officially opens on August 1 and runs until August 15.
The team with the most votes will win a $125,000 upgrade to their soccer pitch, a trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game and $5,000 to a charity of their choice.

BMO Team of the Week Game Plan
From April 1 to June 30, Canadian soccer coaches and parents were invited to nominate their favourite soccer team by logging on to www.BMOsoccer.com. A panel of judges selected 15 winners and each BMO Team of the Week received $500, track suits and a gift to a charity of their choice.
Canadians can cast their vote for their favourite BMO Team of the Week between August 1 and 15.
