Tips on Tipping: From Camp Counsellors to Golf Caddies, BMO Unveils Summer Tip Sheet
- Ahead of the August long weekend, BMO's Semi-Annual 'Tips on Tipping' guide helps Canadians spread the wealth this summer
- BMO survey shows more than half of Canadians choosing 'staycations' this summer
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 30, 2011) - As the August long weekend approaches, many Canadians are looking forward to the extra time off and time spent with family and friends, whether on the golf course, enjoying prime patio weather or taking a family vacation.
"Long weekends generally mean good news for Canada's hospitality, recreation and entertainment industries," said David Heatherly, Vice President, Payment Products, BMO Bank of Montreal. "And according to our Summer Spending Survey, more than half of Canadians this summer will be taking their vacation in Canada."
An expected increase in recreational spending in Canada is forecasted during summer months and over the long weekend, local businesses are poised to be booming. "This bodes well for the many service providers in Canada, including seasonal workers who rely on gratuities and the generosity of satisfied patrons to boost their summer earnings," added Mr. Heatherly.
With that in mind, BMO offers the following list of summer service providers and other professionals, along with suggested tips or gifts to consider for each:
