The Vaughan Battlecats U11 Boys Vie to Be Chosen BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion

Canadians invited to cast their vote at BMOsoccer.com through August 15

VAUGHAN, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 10, 2011) - The Vaughan Battlecats U11 boys' team are in the running to be named BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win the grand prize, which includes $125,000 to upgrade their community soccer pitch.

The champion team will also win a road trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game and a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Canadians can log on to BMOsoccer.com to cast their vote. The team with the most number of votes will be the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion.

"The philosophy of the Battlecats is not measured by how many goals or wins they have achieved; it is measured by the road that is taken to get there," said Tony Spadafora, team coach for the Vaughan Battlecats.

"When the team heard about an opportunity to send soccer balls to a village in Africa, they were so happy to help out. Their faces lit up when we saw the pictures of the kids in the village, some of them the same age as our boys, surrounded by the soccer gear we sent. The greatest thing is that, through all the successes and accomplishments as a team, these boys always show true sportsmanship and humility," Spadafora added.

The Vaughan Battlecats have been distributing flyers and have had great support from the City of Vaughan and the Vaughan Soccer Club. Please visit their website at http://vaughanbattlecats.teampages.com.
