HOUSTON, TEXAS--(Marketwire - Aug. 11, 2011) - BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE:BMO)(TSX:BMO), today announced the expansion of its Energy practice in Houston with the hiring of Matthew Brogdon, who joins BMO Capital Markets as a Director in the Acquisitions & Divestitures (A&D) team.

Mr. Brogdon brings more than a decade of transactional, investment evaluation and general oil and gas management experience from leading Houston energy companies and will report to Miles Redfield, Managing Director and Head of U.S. A&D Advisory.

"Matt brings a wealth of experience and his hiring caps an exciting first year for the A&D team, which executed $2 billion in U.S. deals and increased its Houston-based staff to 15," said Mr. Redfield. Prior to joining BMO Capital Markets, Mr. Brogdon served as Co-President and CEO of a private exploration & production company, Vice President and Team Leader at Netherland Sewell & Associates, Inc. and Senior Reservoir Engineer at Exxon Mobil Production Company. Mr. Brogdon holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Over the past two years, BMO Capital Markets has hired more than 130 new employees in the U.S. who have joined the firm at a Director level or higher.
