REPEAT-MEDIA ADVISORY/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Glen Shields Sun Devils Celebrate BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion Title

- Team named first-ever champion, receiving 72,677 of the 286,388 votes

- Team has won $125,000 towards a community soccer field refurbishment and a trip to see Vancouver Whitecaps FC

- Celebration will include $5,000 cheque presentation to their chosen charity, the Canadian Paralympic Committee

VAUGHAN, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 16, 2011) - Canada's first-ever BMO Team of the Week Champion, the Glen Shields Sun Devils 2000 Girls soccer team, will celebrate their recent win at a special event to be held at the BMO Bank of Montreal branch at Rutherford Rd. and Dufferin St. on September 17.

The team received 72,677 votes of the 286,388 cast by Canadians to be named Champion. They will be presented with a cheque for $125,000 to refurbish their local soccer pitch. A cheque for $5,000 will also be presented to the Canadian Paralympic Committee, which the Sun Devils selected as the charity of their choice.

The inaugural BMO Team of the Week contest included 500 teams nominated online from across Canada. A BMO Team of the Week was chosen each week from April 20 through July 13, selected by a panel of judges based on team pride, spirit, community commitment and passion for the game. After two weeks of nationwide voting in August, the Sun Devils were named BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion.

BMO Team of the Week is Canada's premier grassroots sport celebration, engaging a nation and inspiring communities by recognizing youth soccer teams that demonstrate team pride, team spirit, community commitment and passion for the game. From April 1 until June 30, teams were nominated at BMOsoccer.com. Fifteen weekly winners were named BMO Team of the Week and entered for a chance to be voted by Canadians as BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion. Nationwide voting occurred between August 1 and 15. The grand prize included a $125,000 refurbishment of a community soccer field, a road trip to a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game, and $5,000 donation to a charity of their choice.
