Canadians have long enjoyed the Super Bowl. Over 7 million viewers watched the 2011 game, up 5 percent from 2010, making it the most watched TV broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Men's Gold Medal Hockey Final in Vancouver.

Super Bowl XLVI, to be played February 5, offers an even better opportunity for Canadians to enjoy the game. Played in Indianapolis, Indiana, it will be closer to Canadians compared to most past Super Bowls which are usually held in southern U.S. states. Indianapolis is about a day's drive from Toronto and just a few hours flight time.

"Even if you don't have a ticket to the Super Bowl, there are plenty of things to enjoy during the week leading up to the big game," said Tim Massey, Regional President. "Indianapolis is rolling out the red carpet with a wide selection of restaurants, entertainment, and family activities all wrapped up in our own brand of Midwestern hospitality. We're especially happy to have our Canadian friends visiting us to experience the fun and excitement that surrounds American football, and Canadians will be able to recognize the familiar BMO atop our main branch in downtown Indianapolis."

Starting January 27, visitors can enjoy activities such as:

  • Super Bowl Village – Three blocks of entertainment including free concerts, food, and activities
  • NFL Experience – A pro football interactive theme park, produced by the National Football League, that offers participatory games, displays, entertainment attractions, kids' football clinics, free autograph sessions and the largest football memorabilia show ever
  • Lucas Oil Stadium Super Bowl Tours – Behind the scenes access to the Super Bowl venue

"If you can't make it to Indianapolis around the Super Bowl, Indianapolis is a great destination anytime with plenty to do all year round," said Mr. Massey. "We have a world-class symphony, the largest children's museum in the world, the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, an extensive municipal park system, and a lot more. Plus Canadian BMO clients can use our ATMs without paying fees."
