TORONTO, ONTARIO and NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - Oct. 5, 2012) - BMO Capital Markets, the investment & corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (TSX:BMO)(NYSE:BMO), announced today it will donate CAD $1.25 million (US $1.27 million) to eight charities across North America through the firm's Equity Through Education program.
Every year, since the program launched in 2005, BMO Capital Markets has donated the institutional equity trading commissions earned in the U.S. and Canada during the course of a day to North American charities that support education.
To date, Equity Through Education has raised more than $12 million (US $12.5 million). The program has helped more than 2,500 individuals who have directly benefited from scholarships, bursaries and other educational initiatives, such as job search strategy forums.
