BMO Capital Markets, the investment & corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (TSX:BMO)(NYSE:BMO) today announced that it has hired the Honourable Brian Tobin, P.C., O.C., as Vice-Chair. In this role, Mr. Tobin's primary responsibilities will include senior client coverage and business development. Mr. Tobin will be based in Toronto and report to Darryl White, Global Head of Investment & Corporate Banking.

Most recently, Mr. Tobin has been a senior business advisor with Dentons Canada LLP (formerly Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP) in Toronto. He has also been a strategic advisor to several Canadian corporations and served on a number of public company boards. He was Executive Chairman and CEO of Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Ltd. until its sale to Cliffs Natural Resources. He also serves as Director of AECON Group Inc. and Chairman of the Board of New Flyer Industries Inc.
Mr. Tobin served as Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from 1996 to 2000, winning two consecutive majority governments. He was also a Member of Parliament from 1980 to 1996 and again from 2000 to 2002. His federal political career included positions as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (1993 to 1996) and Minister of Industry (2000 to 2002). Mr. Tobin was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in January 2013.
