MUSKOKA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 8, 2013) - BMO Bank of Montreal today announced that it will make a donation of $10,000 to help support the flood relief efforts in the Muskoka and Kawartha regions as a result of the recent flooding in the region, most notably Huntsville and Bracebridge.
The Salvation Army Bracebridge and Salvation Army Huntsville, which have served as the main point of contact for much needed community assistance since the flooding, will each receive $5,000.
In addition to the donation, BMO employees in Huntsville will be assisting Good Samaritan's Purse with community clean-up, a project that will be included as part of BMO's Volunteer Day.
"We are committed to supporting not only our customers, but also the communities in which they live," said Lloyd Fleming, Vice President, Central and Northern Ontario District, BMO Bank of Montreal. "This donation, as well as the assistance of our employees, will provide the communities of Huntsville and Bracebridge with added support during this challenging time."
BMO's donation follows its announcement last week of a relief program for customers affected by the flooding. The program includes:
- Deferral of personal loan payments (various options)
- Deferral of personal mortgage loan principal and interest payments for a period of two months
- Special accommodations for BMO Bank of Montreal commercial customers affected by the flooding, which are being developed on a case-by-case basis
BMO customers are invited to contact their local branches in Huntsville, Bracebridge, Lindsay, Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Woodville, to speak to a financial services manager about their particular financial needs in the aftermath of the flooding. Furthermore, anyone who wishes to make a donation to assist those affected by the collapse may do so at any BMO branch across Canada.
