EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 27, 2013) - BMO Bank of Montreal today announced the opening of its new full-service banking branch in Edmonton, located at 16903 - 127 Street NW in the fast-growing neighbourhood of Newcastle.
The branch is conveniently located in a residential and commercial hub. The new real estate development has provided the area with a number of new single family homes which will help with the pent-up housing demand. In addition, this development boasts a number of new shops, restaurants and amenities serving Edmonton's flourishing North side.
The Newcastle branch offers customers extended banking hours and is designed to provide a great banking experience through a variety of financial services and conveniences, including:
- A coin counter - a simple-to-use kiosk which counts your loose change;
- Services provided in four different languages;
- Access to commercial account and deposit services - including a 24 hour depository for small business after-hours use;
- Two ATMs - including a drive-thru ATM; and
- Barrier-free access.
"Alberta's labour market as a whole remains tight with the jobless rate at 4.8 per cent-the second lowest in Canada," said Robert Kavcic, Senior Economist, BMO Capital Markets. "With in-migration strong, incomes rising and excess supply from the pre-recession boom worked down, the local housing market is outperforming much of the rest of Canada."
"We welcome BMO into the Newcastle neighbourhood and know that the community will embrace them," said Dave Loken, Ward 3 Councillor, City of Edmonton.
"As the service centre for northern Alberta, where billions in major capital projects are planned over the coming years, most local businesses we talk to have a great sense of optimism, and a desire to pursue growth plans to take advantage of servicing the mega projects," said Lynda Taylor, Vice President, Commercial Banking, Northern Alberta.
In celebration of the branch opening customers who open an account with the Kids Discounted Program at the Newcastle branch between now and June 30, 2013, and deposit $25, will receive another $25 from BMO.
The new branch's extended hours of operation are:
- 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Wednesday;
- 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday;
- 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday; and
- Noon to 4:00 p.m. Sunday
