ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND and LABRADOR--(Marketwired - June 4, 2013) - On Wednesday, June 5, BMO employees in St. John's will bring their culinary talents to bear as they prepare a delicious meal for resident families at Ronald McDonald House and will assist in food sorting at the Community Food Sharing Association. These projects were arranged in association with United Way of Newfoundland's Day of Caring™ program.
The event will be part of the second North America-wide BMO Volunteer Day, with 5,600 employees across Canada and the U.S. rolling up their sleeves to give back.
"Volunteering at Ronald McDonald House is a unique way for BMO employees to support a service in St. John's that provides a key benefit for parents coping with a child's illness," said Jim Fallon, District Vice-President, Newfoundland & Labrador, BMO Bank of Montreal. "We're delighted to help give families a comforting meal together, when they need it most."

About Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador is part of a network of love that started 35 years ago and which now encircles the globe. There are 12 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. Each one is independently owned and operated by a not-for-profit organization. Each Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children who are being treated at nearby children's hospitals. It is a place where families can be together and kids can share experiences with others who are just like them. Each night, more than 7,200 families are accommodated in one of the almost 300 Ronald McDonald Houses in this network.
About United Way Day of Caring™
Day of Caring brings United Way donors and funded agencies together to complete one-day projects. Day of Caring connects donors to meaningful projects where they can see and learn first-hand the impact of their gift on children, families and seniors in the community. United Way matches an agency project with a donor team. Projects can be a half or full-day in length and can include 5 - 10 donors. Day of Caring will take place in St. John's on June 13, 2013 and throughout the Province as opportunities arise.
BMO Volunteer Day
BMO Volunteer Day is a legacy of BMO Harris Bank in the United States, which launched the event in 2001. In recent years, the initiative has expanded to include all of BMO Financial Group. This year, BMO Volunteer Day will take place on June 5th; it will include approximately 5,600 employees participating in more than 470 projects in communities across Canada and the U.S.
