BMO today announced that the Scottish United U12 Girls from Edmonton, Alberta, have been named BMO Team of the Week. The title comes with a $500 team prize, a $500 donation to a charity of the team's choice, BMO Team of the Week tracksuits for the team and coaching staff and a community celebration in the team's honour at a local BMO branch.

Recognized for their work on and off the field, this extraordinary group of girls is the ninth team to be named BMO Team of the Week in 2013. A total of 15 weekly winners across Canada will be named over the course of the summer as part of BMO's national grassroots soccer program.

"To say this team has had its share of ups and downs heading into the season is an understatement; but through it all, we've grown stronger together and have grown into a family," said Ray Deane, Head Coach, Scottish United. "There's a spirit in these girls that is rare to find in a group their age, and it is truly inspiring. I'm so happy that their dedication to each other and to the community has been recognized and that they have been named BMO Team of the Week!"

BMO Team of the Week recognizes youth soccer teams (age 7-12) across Canada that demonstrate team pride, spirit, community commitment and passion for the game. Fifteen teams will be selected as BMO Team of the Week. Each of the weekly winners will then vie for the title of 2013 BMO Team of the Week Champion. The Champion will be determined by the Canadian public through daily online voting at BMOsoccer.com from August 5-19 for the team they feel is most deserving of the award.

"I am proud to recognize the Scottish United U12 Girls for their tremendous involvement in the community and as this week's winner of BMO Team of the Week," said Pam Spady, Vice-President, Alberta North & Northwest Territories, BMO Bank of Montreal. "It's inspiring to see such a young group of girls who are so dedicated to giving back and as well, to recognizing others for their efforts in the community. I commend the team and coaching staff for embodying what this program aims to recognize. I wish them luck as they rally their community and vie to be the 2013 BMO Team of the Week Champion."
