Farewell Tribute for Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable David Onley, to be held at BMO Institute for Learning

- Lieutenant-Governor Onley is the longest-serving Lieutenant Governor in the past 68 years

- Tribute speakers to include Hon. Ed Lumley, Vice-Chair of BMO Capital Markets

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 20, 2014) - BMO Financial Group will hold a farewell tribute to one of Ontario's longest serving Lieutenant Governors, the Honourable David C. Onley, and to his wife, Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley, at the BMO Institute for Learning in Toronto on June 24th.

The event will celebrate their outstanding record of service to Ontario and its citizens over the past seven years, during which they championed accessibility as the key to Ontarians achieving their full potential. His Honour is Ontario's longest-serving Lieutenant Governor in the past 68 years, and is a member of the Order of Ontario.

Tributes to His Honour will include messages from Her Majesty The Queen, Their Royal Highnesses the Earl & Countess of Wessex, the Governor General of Canada, and speeches from:

  • Hon. Kathleen Wynne - Premier of Ontario
  • Hon. Ed Lumley - Vice-Chair, BMO Capital Markets
  • Grand Chief Stan Beardy - Ontario Regional Chief, Assembly of First Nations
  • Brigadier General Julian Chapman - Deputy Commander, 4th Canadian Division, Canadian Army
  • Commissioner Vince Hawkes - Commissioner, Ontario Provincial Police
  • Jonathan, Michael & Robert Onley - Mr. and Mrs. Onley's sons

Performances from Kardinal Offishall, Victor Micallef (The Tenors) and The Art of Time Ensemble, featuring Andrew Burashko, will round out the evening.

Arrival & Registration for this invitation-only event starts at 7:00 p.m., with the tribute beginning at 7:30 p.m. The BMO Institute for Learning is located at 3550 Pharmacy Avenue, Toronto, Ontario.
